1). The new tap will arrive with a thing called a copper tail. There is a recommendation that you replace them with flexible connections. This will save lots of effort for the fit. The thread sizes for the domestic tap can be between 10mm to 12mm. A great tip is to take one of the copper tubes to your merchant and they will make sure that you get the correct flexi connectors. A Kentish Town Plumber will supply and fit hoses.

2). Flexi type pipework or connectors nearly always lend themselves to being bent too much and too tight so that they will restrict or even stop the water flow and the job. You must make sure that all the bends that you make in the flexi are gently angled and not twisted at the connection. Kentish Town Plumbers can work on and fit all plumbing appliances.

3). Main drain cocks are usually fitted underneath the sink in the kitchen to isolate the water supply for a tap change. When you have isolated the water there, you can open all the taps to drain all the water and empty the pipework. Once done, you can close the taps off. Don’t do this if you’ve stopped the water to the taps with the fitted isolation valves. In case you have turned the water off for the whole house you will need to open up all the taps and flush the toilet(s) to drain the system. Water has a tendency to sit still in pipework if the taps are closed off, but when the water is back on and tap opened, the water will race down the pipe work to find you stuck under the sink and you will get a nice cold shower.
