If a sink or wash basin is backed up (blocked) the first thing you will know about it is when the water stays put or drains very very slowly once the plug has been pulled. A common problem is that these types of waste pipes can be become really clogged over a long period of time so the draining will gradually become slower and slower so it isnt always immediately obvious. A Kentish Town Plumber is trained to unblock drains.Tackling this issue can be very dirty and smelly and should be considered very carefully by the DIY amateur before taking it on. Anyone who is not confident to try this, should always call a professional service like Kentish Town Plumbers. Here are some appliances to try and help: Sink Traps can block very easily, so have a bowl at the ready underneath the trap. You can now open the trap, usually by hand and try and clear the block. Once the trap is clear, re-assemble and r-fit. Visually check the trap allows the water to flow through and away to the drain. The Plunger comes in different sizes, but the operation is the same. Plungers are a wooden rod with an attached piece of curved rubber at the end. To use, you cover plug hole with the plunger’s rubber cup, with a small amount of water covering the cup, pump it back and forth several times, this creates a vacuum. This might need to be repeated. The Drain Rod is a long thin rod that can be up to 6metres in length. It is made up of threaded sections that connect together to produce a very long rod (as required). On the rod end is a metal corkscrew that will become entangled with the blockage, so that it can be pulled out from the drain to clear.
